What is calmbirth®?
Calmbirth® was developed to eliminate fear, anxiety and tension which many women experience during pregnancy and birth. calmbirth® is a prenatal education program which is based on the belief that pregnancy and birth are normal life events and couples are taught simple techniques that reduce fear and tension allowing women to be trusting of themselves and their ability to birth.
calmbirth® is an enriching course and you will learn:
- All about birth – the stages of birth and how the body is designed for birth
- How fear and tension can affect the physiology of birth
- Simple deep relaxation techniques
- Simple breathing techniques
- Simple visualisation techniques
- Understanding the positive effects of hormones in pregnancy and birth
- Positions for labour, light massage and the benefit of touch for all
- Optimum Support for a birthing mum and how birth is a team effort
- The importance of prenatal and after-birth bonding
You will hear positive birth stories from women and their partners who used calmbirth® techniques during labour which allowed them to birth confidently and naturally and felt incredibly joyous about their birth experience.
The ideal time to do the calmbirth® course is from 22 to 32 weeks, though later in your pregnancy is OK. Couples receive a calmbirth® book and relaxation CDs.
The course is held over two full days or five nights. Courses held over two days are located in Cammeray or Neutral Bay and the five night series is located in the Dee Why area.
Cost for the course is $385 per couple. Louise is registered with health funds.
